Wake guides

Legit remote side gigs with no experience needed, beyond surveys

Remote side gigs can be open to beginners without previous paid experience. That does not mean they require no skills: reading instructions, communicating clearly and delivering accurate work still matter.

Here are four routes to investigate. They are options to apply for, not promises of immediate work.

Compare the work before creating accounts

Type of gigWhat you doWhat you needMain limitation
Website and app testingExplain your experience using a productClear spoken feedback and a suitable deviceYou must qualify for individual tests
Photo or video data collectionCapture requested objects or actionsAn eligible device, recording permissions and attention to the briefProjects vary by location and requirements
Web researchFind and check requested informationCareful reading and accurate data entryAssessments or project training may apply
TranscriptionTurn recorded speech into textStrong listening, grammar and typing skillsA minute of audio can take several minutes to transcribe

UserTesting requires applicants to qualify through a practice test. Its payment guidance says the amount is shown for each test.

Clickworker offers project-based work with eligibility shaped by your profile and assessments. It explicitly says work and income vary. Its web research guide explains that a particular qualification is not required, but project eligibility tests can be.

Rev requires an assessment and work sample. At the time of checking, its application page listed a waitlist. Transcription is worth considering if you already have accurate typing and English skills.

Choose one route to test

Pick work that matches what you can reliably provide:

  • A quiet room and clear speech: consider usability testing.
  • Practical skills and permission to film: consider task recording.
  • Comfortable reading and checking details: consider research tasks.
  • Strong listening and typing: consider transcription.

Track time spent applying, screening and completing work. Compare money actually received with all that time before investing more.

Check the offer

Apply through the organization's official website. Be cautious about requests to send money to unlock earnings or deposit a check and forward part of it elsewhere. These are patterns covered in the FTC's job scam guidance.

Questions, answered.

Are these salaried remote jobs?

Usually they are individual gigs or freelance assignments. If you need predictable hours and benefits, also search employers' career pages for employee roles.

Does “no experience” mean automatic acceptance?

No. A platform can still require a skills test, suitable equipment, location eligibility or a matching participant profile.

Where does Wake fit?

Wake focuses on recording physical tasks. You need to know how to perform the task safely, rather than know how to code. Check contributor eligibility before recording.
