From motion to demonstration

## A direct way to show how a task is done.

Pick up objects, move them, and demonstrate a task by hand. UMI, short for Universal Manipulation Interface, gives data collectors a handheld interface for manipulation demonstrations.

Add your camera and project-specific recording and processing workflow to prepare demonstrations for robot-learning research.

A closer look at the WAKE UMI Gripper.

### Flexible at the point of contact.

Orange TPU 95A fingers and applied grip surfaces form the two contact faces.

### Guided movement. Manual control.

A 150 mm linear rail, two carriages and spring return guide the hand-operated mechanism.

### The collection hardware, assembled.

Mirrors, markers and a camera mount arrive installed. Bring the camera and workflow your project requires.

Before your first recording

## Match the hardware to your workflow.

### Confirm your camera.

Check mount fit, lens requirements and recording settings against your chosen collection pipeline.

### Configure your capture.

Verify marker IDs and calibration. For two-handed capture, check synchronization and marker assignments.

Inspect the footage and processing output before collecting a larger dataset.

A few practical answers

## Before you order.

What is a UMI gripper?

UMI stands for Universal Manipulation Interface. It is a handheld gripper used to demonstrate object manipulation. With a suitable camera and processing workflow, those demonstrations can support robot-learning research and data collection.

Is a camera included?

No. You receive the assembled gripper and camera mount. Cameras shown in reference photographs are not included. Confirm your camera, lens, physical mount and recording-pipeline requirements before ordering.

What is included in a pair?

Two identical assembled grippers. A pair is hardware for two-handed collection; your workflow may require distinct marker assignments, calibration and synchronization. These setup steps are not included.

Does it work with my robot or data pipeline?

Compatibility depends on your camera, calibration, marker configuration and processing software. This is collection hardware, not a plug-and-play robot controller. Contact us with your setup before ordering if you need a fit check.

Can I use it to contribute data to WAKE?

Recording assignments have their own equipment and eligibility requirements. Buying a gripper does not include paid tasks, automatic app integration or acceptance into a collection program.

Where do you ship?

We ship to the 50 United States and Washington, DC from Los Gatos, California. In-stock orders ship within two business days. Shipping is calculated at checkout; delivery time depends on the selected service.

What is the return policy?

Contact hello@wake.inc within 30 days of delivery to arrange a return of an unused product. You pay return shipping for a change of mind. WAKE covers return shipping for defective or incorrect items. There is no restocking fee.
